Married for 35 years to Karen, with 2 grown up kids, Stephanie Vaernet of
Round Rock, Texas and Clayton Miller of Wortham, Texas – Suprecross Lites
and MX Lites rider #147. Electrical Contractor in Houston, TX with
Ranching operations at Wortham, TX. and motocross track – Freestone County
Raceway. I really did not have any MX experience prior to 1996.
I had
a road race team in 1995, and Clayton wanted to race and he started in 1996
as a Beginner 80 rider at 15 years old. Claytons riding carried our family
further into moto
and that is
what eventually interested us in having a race track.
Freestone County Raceway is the first track that I have owned/operated.
I participated in the Lake Whitney Spring National and
the GNC Finals in the +50 Class and in the Mini 4 stroke class several years
ago. I got lapped by Davey Milsaps and the Allessi brothers in the mini 4
stroke class, but I had plenty of fun.
We
actually started with a practice track and then built the race track in
2000. I felt that the riders needed another good track centrally located
in Texas, that was fun for the riders and families.
The biggest race a Freestone County Raceway was the Texas Winter Series race
in December of 2005 with 603 entry's.
Probably the AMA Outdoor National at Glen Helen or at Hangtown. Both tracks
draw big crowds.
It would be a good follow up to the AMA Road Race and
Flat Track National Titles, to take our Harley-Davidson and go do the Hill
Climb series one time. Right now with my involvement in Supercross and
Motocross shooting for a Championship with a Team has a lot of appeal.
Be
with my family at the race track.
I have
watched a lot of people play the motocross games but I don’t play them.
Continue to make coordination with the other race
promoters to get better/bigger events for the riders.
Racers need a lot of seat time and good training
methods. Nutrition is important as well. Be true to yourself and set goals
to achieve that are reasonable. Take care of business at school with your
education.
I would like to thank all of the riders and parents that we have participated with over the last 9 years at other race tracks as well as Freestone. Friendship, having fun racing and supporting each other in a truly great sport. We have all been blessed with motocross.
