Spring Valley Grand Opening Huge Success
NEWS RELEASE DAT MX EVENTS 05/04/2009
Round 3 of the Texas Sunbelt Series presented by DAT MX Events and
sponsored by Max’s Kawasaki
Honda Yamaha in Abilene was a successful fun event. Practice on
Saturday saw over 150 bikes, pounding the Clyde track back to life
that was started in the late 70’s by Kerry “Kerdog” Walker. Skies
were overcast all day which kept the track premium for the organized
practice. Storms drenched much of Texas on Saturday, canceling other
events, but Spring Valley was spared. The decision was then made
late afternoon to fire up the water trucks and start preparing for
what would be the largest rider turnout in many years of events at
the newly revived Spring Valley MX Park. Sunday morning came with
fog and the great song “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” but the fog
quickly dissipated and allowed everything to start on schedule with
practice at 7:30 sharp. Following practice was a riders meeting that
went directly into the Vertical Adrenaline Trackside Church service.
The National Anthem blasted the pits at 9:00 and the gates fell
non-stop for 34 times, 24 classes, and over 250 riders until 3:30.
The racing was awesome and most every class saw battles going on all
throughout the pack. From 4 year olds to 50 year olds, beginners to
pros, everyone loved the Clyde dirt and track layout that provided
challenging yet fun and safe racing conditions. Holeshot awards were
given all day courtesy of Maxs Cycles, Vertical Adrenaline and
Brownlee Racing Fuels.
